Essential oils have been used in one form or another for thousands of years, and most of us, use them every day! But what exactly are essential oils? When should you use essential oils?
Essential oils are compounds extracted from plant material, usually to capture their "essence" like their flavor or scent. Oils are generally obtained through a process called "distillation," or through a process called cold pressing. Any oils captured through a chemical process are not considered genuine essential oils.
Essential oils are generally used for aromatherapy. Some companies may promote ingesting essential oils, but at Natural Air, we do not. Instead, we know that there are plenty of benefits in just inhaling essential oils, and we focus on aromatherapy for that reason. Essential oils can stimulate a part of your brain called the limbic system that controls motivation, emotion, learning, and memory. Certain aromas can promote a more alert state, while others can develop a more relaxed state. Whether you are looking for a relaxing evening or a jumpstarting your day at the office, essential oils can help you.
